The building features forty four two-bedroom apartments and forty four one-bedroom apartments. The units have heat included, but electric and central air conditioning are paid for by the tenant. Rents start at $1,550 for the two bedrooms and about $1,250 for the one bedrooms. Laundry facilities and bike storage are on the ground floor.
This 12 story building was constructed in 1968 as housing for nurses and doctors when the Ravenswood Hospital was growing and expected to be a major medical force on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Things didn’t turn out as planned as the hospital closed in the mid 1990’s and the building was converted to apartments.
As an added bonus, Lycee Francais de Chicago, known as the French School, built a new campus nearby to replace the original aging hospital Wilson Avenue. It also transformed an old parking lot into open green space and a soccer field for the students.
